The Nigerian Governors Forum held an emergency meeting yesterday at 8:30 pm in Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja. The meeting, was presided over by the chairman of the Governors Forum, Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State. The meeting took place at the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa. The agenda of the meeting was not yet known at the time of compiling this report

The Police Command in Kano state says it has arrested a couple and a nurse for buying a 5 year old boy. the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command DSP Magaji Majiya disclosed this when the suspects were paraded in Kano on Wednesday 11th/Oct/2017. Magaji said that the suspects were apprehended on October 10 following a tip off by one Hajiya Fatima who offered to sell her baby in order to plot for the suspects arrest. “We received information from Hajiya Fatima that someone wants to buy her baby. So we told her to tell them she has agreed to sell the boy. “The suspects bought the baby at the rate of N15,000 and paid N13,000 as part payment.” The PPRO said that one of the suspect, Itopam Pious, who claimed to be a nurse at ECWA Eye Hospital Kano, was arrested while trying to confiscate the baby from his mother. It will be recalled that the team 6 of course 26 participants from the NDC are in Kano on a working visit to study the empowerment programme of the state, which is part of their course, and 11 teams were sent to 11 various states to study their empowerment programme as a tool for the enhancement of national security. Top management of First Surat Group, proprietors of the Nigeria Tulip International Colleges (NTIC), Nigeria Nile University (NTNU) and Nizameye Hospital, has visited H.E Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam in Abuja today. The delegation was led by First Surat Chairman, Mr. Mehmet Bashturk and included the Vice Chancellor Nile University Mr. Huseyin Sert, Managing Director First Surat Mr. Orhan Kertim and the Dean of Post Gradauate School, Nile University Prof. Musa Muhammed. The delegation briefed the governor on the state of academic progress at the Yobe NTIC and the range of programmes at the Nile University. Mr. Kertim told the governor that Yobe NTIC students continue to excel in relevant national examinations, including WAEC and JAMB, saying WAEC performance for the year was 100 percent while the JAMB average across all NTIC schools is 240 marks. H.E Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam met with President Muhammadu Buhari at State House, Abuja today where he briefed him on the  over all situation in Yobe State. The governor spoke with the president about the ongoing effort to rebuild the state as Boko Haram insurgency comes to an end. H.E Gov. Gaidam solicited the support of the president in the reconstruction and rebuilding process, as the state government transitions from rehabilitation to resettlement and reconstruction of parts of the state affected by Boko Haram attacks. The governor also briefed the president about N13 billion expense incurred by the state government as a result of the Boko Haram insurgency and asked for help with repaying all or some of the money to enable the state government use it for other development purposes.
